“Land for Food, Food for People” brings Devon Peña to Bellingham

Kulshan Community Land Trust, Community to Community, and Community Food Co-op are collaborating on an exciting Bellingham event to explore the important issues of land access and food sovereignty both nationally and locally.
Land for Food, Food for People: An afternoon for food sovereignty and land access

After the screening, the event continues at the American Museum of Radio and Electricity:
Presentation and community discussion with Devon Peña, director of The Acequia Institute and University of Washington professor. Peña is a lifelong activist in the environmental justice and resilient agriculture movements.

Music and dancing led by Seattle Fandango Project, a grassroots group dedicated to building community through the fandango jarocho of Veracruz.

This event is meant to highlight equity in our local food system. “We hope this event will help people to better recognize the links between environmental and social justice in our food system and to work to form partnerships that move us forward on all fronts,” says Ann Russell, Program Manager at KulshanCLT. Local organizations working on issues related to land access, food sovereignty and social justice will be at the event to answer questions from the community.
Admission: $20 (includes movie). Advance tickets available at both Community Food Co-op locations and the Pickford Film Center. Proceeds benefit Kulshan Community Land Trust, Community to Community, and the Community Food Co-op Farm Fund.
